Desk Jockey News Vol. 2 Issue 6
New Studio is in Progress - Staff Update!

We did it! The lease has been signed for 2,000 sf of commercial space on Park Road to house the first Desk Jockey Fitness private training center.

We are currently remodeling the space and expect to welcome existing and new clients in early July.

The center is located about a quarter of a mile north of the Carolina's Medical Center (formerly Mercy Hospital South) in Pineville. Click this link for a Mapquest map of the center.

The exact opening date is yet to be determined... but should be around the second week of the July.

Our focus will be to improve our clients' overall health and well being through postural analysis and awareness, corrective exercise and functional training.

We would also like to welcome our first new addition to the staff of Desk Jockey Fitness: Paul Jensen of Schenectady, NY. Paul will be providing Desk Jockey Fitness clients with lifestyle support and consulting services. His credentials, experience and service delivery are impeccable. We consider ourselves fortunate to have such an outstanding professional as part of our team.

Medicine Ball Blast in the Park

On June 4 we conducted our first medicine ball workout in the park. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

As requested, I've scheduled a followup program for Saturday, July 9 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM. The location will be at the same location, the Park Road Park ballfield #2.

The cost of the program is $10 for the first participant and $5 for each guest that comes with you.

The program will be limited to the first 20 pre-paid participants on a first-come basis.

If your workout needs a good shakeup the med ball program is a great place to start!

Hurry! This class will fill up quickly. Call or email TODAY to reserve your spot!

  Fresh Batch of Duraballs

A fresh batch of Duraball Pro Swiss balls are in. Demand for these balls has been strong and keeping them in stock has been a challenge.

If you think all balls are created equal you are mistaken. These balls are even being sold to other independent trainers for their own personal use. They really are the best by a long shot.

Check out our products page to determine the correct size ball for you!

7 Tips for Training the Abdominal Wall

Training the abdominal wall involves more than just doing crunches on the floor. In fact, most people do more harm to themselves than good through improper abdominal training programs.

How can you improve your ab training?

The No Diet, Diet by Paul Jensen, Jr.

What if there was a diet we could follow to lose fat permanently, increase our energy levels and optimize our health?  What if this same diet allowed us to eat as much as we wanted until we felt full, made calorie-counting obsolete, and even allowed an occasional sweet?  .  Sounds too good to be true? Fortunately, thanks to William Wolcott and other pioneers of metabolic typing "The No Diet, Diet" does exist.

Think You're Having a Bad Day?

This newsletter is going out late for a variety of reasons but mostly because I got behind on getting it done. The situation was exhasperated when my service provider had some problems with thier data center over the weekend.

For the information technology professionals out there, you might appreciate the plight of this data center manager's weekend. Hopefully it'll make your day feel like a walk in the park.

Have you backed up YOUR data lately?

MNB Outage
At approximately 2:15pm EST June 9th, 2005, the building where our datacenter is located lost power.
- The backup UPS systems did function properly and carried the power load.
- The generators did start, however the transfer switch that moves load from commercial power to generator power did not function properly.
- The UPS batteries were drained because the generator power could not be transferred.
- The UPS system does not power the AC units, so the temperature inside the datacenter climbed very quickly, forcing us to shut down ALL servers to prevent heat from damaging hardware and data.

The generators and UPS systems are the responsibility of the building owners which we are leasing space from, and they were tested and expected to work properly. It has not yet been determined why the generator power was not transferred properly.

At 7:48pm EST Jun 9th, 2005, power was restored and we began running a restoration program on the server. As that was approaching completion, power failed once more and due to temperature issues, the server had to be shut down. The net result was a dead hard drive. A new hard drive has been installed and is up and running

We were able to recover almost all of the data. The only loss that you may notice is images missing in older newsletters. Please check the ones that are important to you and re-upload if any are missing. Bounced messages may have been affected as well.

We are implementing another layer of backup to prevent this from ever happening again.

Thank you for your well wishes and your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We have worked round-the-clock to insure that our service would be restored in a timely manner.

Thank you,
Jason Baronciani
