Holiday Gifts That Promote Fitness
Charlotte, NC - December 10, 2005 -

The Christmas Season is often a test of creativity to come up with the perfect gift for your family, friends and colleagues.  Why not contribute to the health and wellness of your recipients by giving them gifts that encourage them to get in shape.  Try some of these gift ideas that will not break the bank.

1.  Swiss Ball.  The Swiss Ball is one of the most popular exercise tools out there.  It is versatile and very effective.  In addition to body weight exercises it can be used as a drop in replacement for a weight bench.  Highly effective exercise programs can be achieved when used in conjunction with a small set of dumbbells.  Make sure you get a burst resistant ball especially if it is to be used for strength training.  Good quality Swiss balls range in price from $25 - $75.

2.  Stretching Mat.  Many of the symptoms associated with normal aging and a sedentary lifestyle can be relieved by incorporating simple stretches into your daily routine.  Receiving a stretching mat might be just enough incentive to get someone off the couch and onto the mat.  Good stretching mats are available for less than $25.

3.  Exercise Video.  Many people simply prefer to exercise in the privacy and convenience of their home.  Give them the gift of in-home fitness.  Videos are available for every type of fitness enthusiast.  A wide range of topics include yoga, Pilates, strength training, aerobics, and tai chi.  DVD videos are available for $15-25.

4.  Foam Roller.  Foam rollers are a great way to stretch out those tired muscles after a day at the office.  They can be used to work out knots in leg, back and hip muscles.  They provide a safe and convenient way to literally give oneself a massage.  For less than $15 you can give the gift of the self-massage.

5.  Gift Certificates.  Most fitness centers and spas offer gift certificates for personal training sessions and massages.  Personal training services is a proven method for new exercisers to get started on the right track as well as reducing the risk of injury due to poor exercise technique.  Massage therapy treatments are a great way to reduce muscle tension.  One hour personal training and massage therapy sessions range in price from $60 - $80.
