Small Group Training for Women

The Desk Jockey Small Group Training for Women program was created to fill a fitness void that women experience all of the time:  They are intimidated to workout with free weights when they go to the gym!

Most women that go to the gym either spend their time on cardio machines or they attend group fitness classes.  They're getting plenty of cardio but are totally ignoring the key secret to getting that long, lean, sexy body that they are really looking for:  strength training.

Let's face it.  Most women simply lack upper body strength.  In general, most people do exercises that they are already good at.  Runners tend to be the naturally skinny people.  Bench pressers tend to be big men with big bellies.  Women like to do cardio, yoga, Pilates and crunches.

But women have a RIGHT and a NEED to develop their relative and absolute strength!  It's good for the bones.  It's good for their functional capabilities.  It's good for their aesthetics.  It's good for their egos!

If women do any kind of strength training it is on "machines".  Why?  They are safe places because they do not require any kind of skill and, for the most part, someone has to go out of their way to see how much weight is being lifted.

But guess what? The machines are designed by and built for men.  How many women do you know have the body size and shape of the typical 5'10" male?  I don't know too many.  To add insult to injury, the best use of these machines, even for men, is for post rehabilitation after an injury or medical procedure.  They isolate the joint to the point where the only muscles working are the prime movers.  There is absolutely no stabilization or neurological control required.

What's it like to have strong prime movers but little stabilization skills?  It's like shooting a canon from a canoe!  You're going to sink your ship and miss your target.  Translation:  you're setting yourself up for injury and will never reach your goals.

What about all of those "cardio classes"?  Certainly they must be doing some good right?  Sure, if you're looking to improve your vascular performance, increase the blood throughput of your heart, and optimize your oxygen uptake.  Again, if you're looking to create a long, lean physique you may be in for a shocker. 

World class Olympic strength and conditioning trainer Charles Polliquin has an acronym he uses to describe aerobics instructors: CAIS, Chunky Aerobics Instructor Syndrome.  One study found that the average aerobics instructor had a body fat of 23 percent.  If they have a body fat of 23 percent, and are teaching 2-4 classes per day, 4-5 days per week, what chances does the average Jane have of reducing her fat if she's only attending 3-4 classes per week?  Zero!

  • You'll know how to train to create a long and lean physique.
  • You'll learn how to incorporate nutrition into your program.  When to eat, what to eat, and how much to eat.
  • You'll learn the best time to perform cardio exercise, relative to your strength training routine.
  • And here's my biggest and most assured promise of all...  You'll know how to perform exercises that they guys dare not attempt on their own.  When you walk out of the weight room, they'll be guys left behind that will try to do what you did when you were in there that they wouldn't try when you are there.  It's more than just raw strength, it's technique that really matters!
